Cake Art Fondant Icings
are made in Australia.
Fondant Icings are used as the primary coverage for cakes. It keeps the cake fresher and creates a base for all the decorations. Fondants should stay at a texture that cuts with the cake and a taste to compliment the cakes flavour. Fondant is kneaded till it is pliable and all the ingredients are activated, this helps it to form to the shape of the cake, no cornflour or drying agents should be used when preparing the fondant. A smooth clean surface dusted with CAKE ART Decorators sugar is preferred when rolling out to the desired size. It is ideal to be rolled approx. 5mm thick. Clean hands and or a smoother dusted with decorator's sugar is used to smooth the icing onto the prepared cake.
see our tutorial below. Cake Art icings are made for the Australian market and are seasonally adjusted. Cake Art fondant has a vanilla flavour but can be enhanced with other flavours, though we do advise to be cautious of the amount of liquid being added. Cake Art fondant can be coloured by kneading in the colour, air brushing or with lustres dusted with glitters to highlight areas with both tones and textures. All Cake Art products work together, sugar pastes can be kneaded into the fondants for draping and frilling.

HINT: IN COLD WEATHER ZAPPING THE ICiNG FOR 10-15 SECONDS PER KG IN A MICROWAVE HELPS WITH KNEADING AND IF THE ICING STARTS TO FORM A CRUST QUICKLY, USE CONFECTIONERS FAT TO BUFF THE SURFACE. THIS WITH THE HEAT FROM YOUR HANDS WILL GIVE A SMOOTH FINISH.
HINT: IN VERY HOT WEATHER PLACING THE PRE KNEADED ICING IN CLING WRAP AND LETTING THE ICING SETTLE IN A FRIDGE FOR ABOUT 10 MINS BEFORE ROLLING OUT IS ADVISED.

HOW MUCH ICING DO I NEED
This depends on the shape, size and height of your cake. The taller the cake the thicker the icing needs to be. It is advisable to roll your icing a little thicker as it will thin out as it is smoothed onto the cake and you do not want it to be so thin you can see the cake inside. This is a recommendation only for using Cake Art fondants and will vary for other brands.

Cake Art fondants come in 15 +colours and we are adding to the range continually. The colours are strong and vibrant. They can be blended together to vary the colour and be airbrushed for rainbow effects. Decorators sugar is designed for the coloured icing as it absorbs into the icing and does not dull the colour.

WHITE CHOCOLATE FONDANT
This is a stronger fondant with the aroma and taste of white chocolate. White chocolate fondant is made from the ingredients of white chocolate so it has a lovely creamy taste and natural colour. It compliments mud cakes and is a popular icing on all cakes. It flows and drapes, allowing it to fall gracefully over tiered cakes. Bows and accessories - that taste delicious.

DARK CHOCOLATE FONDANT
This most delicious icing is made from our fondant icing and REAL chocolate. It is rich flavour, dark coloured and strong textured icing and microwaving before use can quicken the kneading time. It is the most forgiving icing and even patching an accidental dent is simple with a hot knife. . Using a hair dryer from a distance can bring out the oils and make this cake shine.
